Chapter 1.5 - Preparation

Amber had spent ages preparing everything for the baby's arrival. But no amount of preparation seemed like it was enough. And it wasn't just the baby she had to deal with. Ayden wanted to be involved in the baby's life. Amber felt that after finding out she was carrying his child, she could no longer reasonably ignore his calls. He was trying to be in her life, but she still didn't want to see him. Maybe once she had the baby she would feel differently, but she wasn't about to accept his help now, not after he made his thoughts so clear on her current way of life.

"Ayden!" Amber shouted through clenched teeth "You need to give me some space, you're stressing me out and that is no good for the baby."
"His calls have been non-stop." Amber thought, "It seems like he really wants to be in my life."
She was getting tired of the phone calls to be honest, part of her was starting to think that if she just let him be part of the baby's life, even if they moved to a new house together, then maybe everything would be easier. But would she be able to live with herself if she just went back to such a lavish lifestyle? She was doing so well without relying on anybody else, why did that have to change just because she was having a baby?
She was about to head into the gym, she had been struggling to find the motivation to work out at home while she was pregnant, so she thought maybe the gym, as much as she disliked it, would help her get back in the swing of things.

Amber was told by a member of staff that it wasn't a good idea for a pregnant sim to be using any of the machines, but she was free to do floor exercises, either using the tv or stereo music. Amber sighed, "I could have stayed at home." She thought to herself. "Oh well, I am here now, it would be a wasted journey if I didn't make use of the gym."
She headed over to the nearest available floor space, it was in the middle of the treadmills. During her workout, a rather hairy man started running on the treadmill next to her. There was something strange about the man, something Amber couldn't figure out.
She had a feeling coming from inside her, a feeling of hatred and fear? Amber didn't understand why there was a feeling like this coming from inside. She had never met the man in her life yet she felt an inexplicable need to watch his every move. She didn't trust him.
She carried on with her workout, watching him whenever she thought he wouldn't notice.
"Why do I feel like this man wants to hurt me? Why do I feel like I hate him?" Amber wondered to herself.
The feeling was similar to that which she felt when she first met Ayden, a supernatural feeling. A new logic, one that made no sense to her whatsoever. Who was this man running next to her? And why did Amber feel a hatred for him coming from..."my belly! the feeling! it's coming from my belly....Ayden....what have you done to me? What are you?"
She continued her workout until the man finished his, and he disappeared to take a shower. At which point, Amber left the gym as quickly as she could. She just wanted to get home and figure out how to approach Ayden about all of these sensations.

Amber hadn't stopped in the gym to take a shower, instead she had taken a cab home to get there as quickly as she possibly could. She was just about to take her shower at home when she felt a new sensation.
Magical? Yes. Supernatural? No way.
It was the baby, kicking for the first time.
All of a sudden, everything became very, very real for Amber. This baby was real, and it was not going to be long before it was here. She needed to prepare. She had opted to not find out the gender until she delivered. It made it a bit more difficult to decorate the nursery, but Amber wanted to be surprised.
All of her priorities were suddenly changed. She needed to get the baby's room ready. She could confront Ayden about the strange happenings in her life later on. Right now all that was important was her baby.

After days of looking through catalogues, wallpaper samples, paint swatches and style magazines, Amber had finally got everything ready for the baby. She had chosen yellow for now, and would change it to reflect her baby's personality when it was a little bit older.
She was just putting the finishing touches together, making the bed in the corner, making sure the crib was spotless.
Suddenly, the baby started kicking really hard.
"What is it baby?" Amber whispered to her growing belly. "Do you like your room?"
She couldn't help but want to know whether baby was a boy or girl, but she had told the midwife not to tell her no matter how much she begged to be told.

"I can't wait to meet you baby, just make me one promise...."
The baby kicked softly.
"Don't be too much like your father..." Amber whispered.

So this is a bit of a short chapter, but I felt like this was far enough for the story at this point.
Important stuff here really with Amber and the baby.

That whole thing with Dwayne Wolff. She seriously wouldn't stop staring at him! So I figured, what the heck, write it in!
