Chapter 1.14 - Blaze

Amber was enjoying having two children who were old enough to be left unattended while she was at work. But it seems that it wasn't just Bonnie who was acting "different" to normal children. She couldn't put her finger on it, but there really was something different about Cassandra, unlike Bonnie she wasn't "evil", nor was she the daughter of a supernatural being. She was an ordinary human. Yet her actions and behaviour were far from ordinary.

"Rawr!" Cassandra shouted.
Amber heard it from the other room and decided to investigate. She walked in to find her daughter dressed in a dinosaur costume she had found in the old chest in the bedroom.
"RAAWWWRR!!" Cassandra shouted again waving her arms around, completely oblivious to her mother's presence.
"Well, I guess it's not that strange, she just has a vivid imagination" Amber thought to herself. She didn't really understand her daughter's desire to play as she never had that desire herself.

Amber hadn't noticed that Cassandra's favourite toy was nowhere to be seen.
Raindrop was no longer just a toy but was actually a strange being, visible only to Cassandra. He would encourage Cassandra's imagination and would egg her on. All he wanted to do was play. Cassandra had been seen talking to "thin air" and swinging pillowcases around at nobody. It definitely came across as strange to anybody who didn't know, which was of course everyone but her.

The girls continued to share the small second bedroom. To try and make the most of the space, Amber brought a loft bed for Cassandra so the girls could use the space below it for storage. It wasn't ideal as Bonnie wanted her own room, she was too old to be sharing with her sister, but Amber couldn't afford an extension on the house just yet.

Amber was promoted at work again. Although she was far from being able to expand the house to accommodate the two girls, she was one step closer. She found that now the girls were older she could focus on becoming the boss at the warehouse and have as much money as she wanted.

"Raindrop! What did you do???" Cassandra couldn't believe what she was seeing. "There's soap EVERYWHERE!!!"
Raindrop giggled and pointed at the broken washing machine.
"Mum's gonna kill me!" Cassandra whined.
Raindrop proceeded to gather some of the bubbles and throw them at her.
"Heey! What are you-" A load of bubbles went straight in her mouth "pthththth ugh that tastes horrible!" She couldn't help but laugh. She grabbed some bubbles and threw them at Rainbow. And they began a soap war.

Meanwhile, Bonnie was enjoying the freedom associated with being able to drive. She wasn't going anywhere in particular, but it felt nice just being able to go anywhere she wanted.
She was completely unaware of the chaos that awaited her when she got home. Her mother had put her in charge of keeping things tidy while she was at work, in exchange for being able to use the car whenever she wanted.

"I think this goes...and that...OW!" Bonnie managed to catch her finger inside the broken washing machine.
"DAMMIT!" She shouted as she stood, tempted to kick the machine.
"Cassie, if I don't get this fixed before Mother gets home from work, I'm gonna kick your puny ass!"

Amber decided to teach Cassandra how to play chess. Cassie hadn't shown any interest in the chess set that sat in the living room yet, while her sister had been drawn to it immediately, and Amber wanted to have the same bond with Cassandra as she did with Bonnie.
"Ok, if you move that piece I will be able to capture your king." Amber said, "Try a different move."
"Can we have chicken for dinner?" Cassie asked.
"Chi...chicken? I guess, but try and focus on the game darling, we can eat after."
"But this game's boring!" Cassie said, sitting back in her chair looking around the room.

Bonnie was cooking mac n cheese for dinner one night while Amber was working. All of a sudden, Millie was brushing around her ankles mewling for food.
"Millie!" Bonnie smiled at her, "I'm trying to cook dinner!"
Meoowww
"There's food in your bowl!"
Mewwwww
"Fine! Here," Bonnie reached into her pocket and fed Millie a treat.
Purrrrrrrr

It was a full moon, zombies were making their appearances as usual and both girls were staying safely indoors. A particularly old zombie, who was looking rather frail passed away from old age.

"Stay inside Cassie," Bonnie whispered, "I am going to see what's going on."
"Oh....okay." Cassandra said softly.
Please don't leave me here, on a full moon.
Bonnie closed the door behind her and Cassandra panicked and snuck out after her.
Both girls watched as the Reaper harvested the soul of the old man. Bonnie was delighted at the man's misfortune. Cassandra was horrified and ran back inside before a hoard of zombies came for them.

Bonnie stayed outside. She loved watching the zombies shuffle around. She thought it was funny.
"Raarrr! I'm a zombie too!" She teased the zombie who was slowly trying to attack her.

Millie was sat on the floor softly purring having been fed yet another treat. Suddenly, the purring changed to a high pitched meow. Amber and Bonnie didn't know what to do. It seemed like Millie was in pain. She wouldn't let them touch her and kept meowing loudly.

It turns out she had been pregnant with a litter of kittens. She gave birth to them on the living room floor.
"Awww they're so cute!" Cassandra squealed, "Can I have one?"
"What are we going to call them?" Bonnie asked.
"How am I going to look after 6 cats???" Amber thought.

Three boys and a girl. Cassandra picked the names George (the little fluffy one), and Pixie (the pudgy one). Bonnie called the other two Gizmo (the skinny one) and Tiger (The cutest one).

All this fuss over the kittens had meant Bonnie had left the breakfast unattended on the stove. All of a sudden, the fire alarm blared out. Amber and Cassandra ran to a safe place while Bonnie grabbed a fire extinguisher and tackled the blaze herself. Putting it out before the fire marshals arrived.

"You shouldn't be so reckless Bonnie" Her mother said.
"Oh please mother, don't be so overdramatic." Bonnie said, pumped up with adrenaline. It had been such a rush.
Amber just looked at her disapprovingly.

"Cassandra, Bonnie, I need the two of you to decide something."
"What is it mother?" Cassandra asked, wondering why her mother was using her whole name rather than Cassie.
"We can't keep all the kittens, so each of you need to pick one to keep."
"Why can't we keep all of them?" Cassandra said, stomping her foot on the ground.
"We just don't have the space."

Cassandra was sad, she didn't want to pick just one of the kittens for herself. She loved them all.
Bonnie didn't seem too bothered, she just carried on playing chess like nothing had happened.

Cassandra turned to Raindrop to talk through her feelings with him.
"I just don't know what to do. I love Pixie, but George is a cutie. And what about Gizmo and Tiger? What if Bonnie doesn't pick the one I like the best out of those."
Raindrop stood and listened and didn't speak.
"I think I prefer Pixie, she looks more...interesting than George...I guess...I will tell mum to put George up for adoption."

So a lady from the pet adoption service came and picked up George. Bonnie had opted to keep Gizmo, she loved the way he zipped around the house and his quirkiness. Tiger was very cute but there was something about Gizmo.

So yeah, it's been a while since I updated. I didn't feel much like writing. I am starting to wish I hadn't started out writing so much trying to make a plot of everything is kinda tiring. I just want to play the challenge. But this is how I started so I will keep it up.

And random zombie deaths on my lot? Gonna have to do something about that before my garden becomes a graveyard.

Not sure who noticed, but I have expanded the house to have a second floor. I haven't taken any pictures of it in this chapter but it will be shown more in the next chapter.
